The Santa Barbara Chamber Players
The Santa Barbara Chamber Players, led by conductor Emmanuel Fratianni, will present a captivating winter concert on Feb. 1 at 7:30 p.m., at the First United Methodist Church in Santa Barbara.
This performance will feature a stunning program of classical masterpieces and operatic highlights, with special guest soprano April Amante, who will bring her exquisite voice to a selection of iconic arias.
The program will include:
- Emilie Mayer’s “Overture no. 2 in D major”, a vibrant and energetic late Romantic work featuring bold brass fanfares, lively strings, and contrasting lyrical woodwind sections.
- Schubert’s “Unfinished Symphony,” a hauntingly beautiful work that showcases Schubert’s lyrical genius, even in its incomplete form.
- Four pieces featuring soprano, April Amante:
- Canteloube’s “Chants d’Auvergne”, where April Amante will perform evocative French folk songs from the Auvergne region, bringing their rich melodies and emotion to life. Puccini’s “O mio babbino caro” from Gianni Schicchi, a beloved aria known for its heart-wrenching beauty, performed with Amante’s powerful vocal interpretation. Puccini’s “Quando m’en vo” from La Bohème, a playful and dramatic aria that will showcase Amante’s vocal versatility and passion.
- Schönberg’s “I Dreamed a Dream” from Les Misérables, a moving and powerful song, re-imagined in a classical style with Amante’s soulful voice.
About Emmanuel Fratianni
Emmanuel Fratianni is a renowned conductor, composer, and pianist based in Santa Barbara, known for his expertise in symphonic multimedia productions. He has conducted prestigious orchestras, including the San Francisco Symphony, Boston Pops, and National Symphony Orchestra, and is the principal conductor of Video Games Live.
With a distinguished career in film and television music, Fratianni has worked on shows like JAG and NCIS and films such as Avatar and The Amazing Spider-Man. As a composer for interactive media, his work has been performed by top orchestras, and his album Video Games Live, Vol. 1 reached the Billboard Top Ten. In addition, he received the award “Soundtrack of the Year” for Advent Rising.
