Alpena High School’s track teams took top honors at the Northland Invitational on their home track. The boys’ team finished with 180 points and the girls’ team finished with 228 points, both ahead of Ogemaw Heights, Tawas, North Trails, and Petoskey St. Michael. Several Alpena students won their events, and second place finishes went to Dever and Kelly in the boys’ 100 and 400 dash events respectively, Kurowski and Knight in the boys’ 800 and 3,200 run events respectively, Sheridan in the boys’ 300 hurdles event, the boys’ 1,600 relay team, Duthler in the boys’ shot put event, Rogers in the pole vault event, Allen in the long jump event, Frias in the girls’ 100 dash event, Heath in the girls’ 1,600 run event, the girls’ 1,600 relay team, Maychen in the girls’ long jump and pole vault events, Prue in the girls’ discus event, and Kauffman in the girls’ shot put event.
