Background

On July 28, a shooting took place outside the Sports Page Bar located off Smithfield Road and Knightdale Boulevard in Knightdale, North Carolina. The incident resulted in a 26-year-old man being shot and seriously injured, while two other individuals were assaulted.

Suspect turns himself in

After a thorough investigation, authorities have identified and arrested a key suspect in the case. Mekhi Alante Lucky, a 26-year-old resident of Raleigh, surrendered himself to the police. He is the third person to be charged in connection with the incident. Knightdale Police Chief Lawrence Capps confirmed that Lucky is believed to be the individual who pulled the trigger during the shooting.

Charges and detention

Mekhi Alante Lucky is facing charges of attempted first-degree murder, as well as assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury. He is currently held without bond at the Wake County Detention Center.

Previous arrests

Two other individuals, Brandon Shamaar Bumpass (24 years old) and Tyler Squirewell (24 years old), both residents of Raleigh, had already been taken into custody and charged for their involvement in the attack prior to Lucky’s surrender.
