Eleven spectacular performances! Miami / Miami Beach / Ft Lauderdale

The XXVIII International Ballet Festival of Miami, artistic director Eriberto Jiménez, considered one of the most important and unique in the United States, will take place from July 22 to August 13. Every year for the last 27 years the IBFM invites more than 70 artists representing some of the most famous Ballet and Contemporary companies from Europe, Latin America, Asia and the United States, many never before seen in the United States. There is nowhere else in the USA to experience this diversity.

Encompassing performances in different venues in Miami Beach, Fort Lauderdale and Miami, the IBFM is a much-anticipated annual summer event and has received stellar national and international reviews, putting Miami on the international cultural map. The festival events also include Art Exhibitions, Book Presentations, Dance Films, workshops and master classes and free performances of “Dancing in the Street” on the famous Lincoln Road, Miami Beach.

The IBFM Festival Opening night takes place Saturday, July 22, with a VIP reception and the official unveiling and signing of the IBFM poster, created each year by Cuban artist Luis Celiero. The statuette for the “A Life for Dance” Lifetime Achievement Award by famous Mexican sculptor David Cormalinga will be unveiled with art exhibition inspired by dance by well-known artists in the galleries of the Miami Hispanic Cultural Arts Center.

From July 23 to August 14, the IBFM offers an International Intensive Ballet Summer Camp, hosting students from different countries: Colombia, Panama, Dominican Republic, Italy, France and USA, and Dance Films and Book signings

The International Ballet Festival of Miami presents eleven exciting performances:

“IBFM Young Medalists” presents the Stars of Tomorrow, new dance talents who have won medals in different national and international competitions, many of whom have returned years later to dance in the Festival as Principal dancers from companies around the world. July 29 /8pm Miami Theater Center and July 30, a Marathon of Dance performance, showcasing local talent free at the Miami Beach Bandshell.

“Contemporary Galas” Three performances featuring cutting edge International Contemporary Dance Companies from Colombia, Switzerland, France, Dominican Republic & USA, with a mix of music and styles from these countries: August 3/ 8:00 pm, Lincoln Rd Miami Beach (free outdoors); August 4/ 8 pm Lehman Theater Miami Dade College, August 5 Dennis C. Moss Center for Performing Arts and August 6/ 5:00 pm Amaturo Theater Broward Performing Arts Center.

“The IBFM Grand Finale” presents the acclaimed much anticipated Two Ballet Gala Evenings, featuring Principal Dancers representing the best worldwide companies from Brazil, Bulgaria, Colombia, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Dominican Republic and the United States with a different program each night:

Sat. August 12 / 8:00 pm “Etoiles Classical Grand Gala and presentation of IBFM Lifetime Achievement Award” accepted over the years by some of the most prestigious worldwide dance artists & Directors, and Sun. August 13 / 5:00 pm “IBFM Closing Festival Gala” with all performers. Both performances will be held at the Miami Dade County Auditorium.
